Secrets To Making A Fortune on E-Bay With Drop Shipping

E-Bay is an extremely powerful medium as a money spinner and you really should try to make extra revenue with it. I have often suggested on my website, the use of E-Bay, to sell tangible products like DVDs and CDs and Solar Panels, etc, I wanted you to see what he has to say about the secrets to cashing in with E-Bay. But, what are the secrets?
Secret 1: Find a ‘real’ wholesale and drop ship company.
Do you know what one of the biggest problem is, in order to be successful on E-Bay? The question most people ask is ‘What should I sell on E-Bay”? Let me try to explain this in more detail.
Let’s take Pete and Greg for example. Both are E-Bay sellers and try to make money on the E-Bay website. Both have a completely different modus operandi.
Let’s start with Pete. He mainly gets his items from garage sales, so every Saturday morning he gets up very early, hops into his car and drives around the neighbourhood, to check out the garage sales. One Saturday, Pete did not buy anything on the first two garage sales, but on his third garage sale, he found a little treasure. It was an old book from 1897 and he got it for a bargain price of $10. Bingo! Pete was very proud of his purchase and of course at the possibility! He obviously thought he could sell it for huge profit. On reaching home, he took out his digital camera and he made a high quality digital photo of the book. This took him quite some time, but finally he was happy with the result. Then he had to upload this picture to his computer and he spent some more time writing the sales copy. By late Saturday afternoon, he was finally finished and launched this book on E-Bay.
Within ther next week, his item was sold for $75! Pete was excited. He packed the item, labelled it with the buyer's address and took the package down to the nearest post office. There he found a long line of customers. After 15 minutes of waiting, he eventually got to post the book to his customer! Wow, what a lot of work for $65 profit? Don’t you agree?
Now, let's look at what Greg did. He's a laid back kind of guy. He usually only wakes late, especially on the weekend. Well, that same Saturday that Pete was so busy, Greg woke at around lunchtime. He stayed in his pyjamas and he made himself a nice cup of coffee, before sitting down in front of his computer. On the Internet, he logged into his drop ship account and browsed through a few new hot selling products. He casually selected a few which he thought he could resell. One that really excited him, was a nice new laptop, for a bargain wholesale price of $550. Lucky Greg would not have to pay upfront for this item, as he was registered with them as a reseller, so he just downloaded the professional digital photos offered by his drop ship company, to a folder on his computer. Then, as a second lucky break, Greg discovered that this drop ship company also had a ‘ready-to-use’ auction sales letter available.
That was really cool and Greg simply copied and pasted the source code of this letter into his E-Bay account and immediately launched his auction campaign. Greg knew he could actually only advertise once, but sell a couple of the same item, since the drop ship company had announced that they had more than one of this laptop currently available. Next, Greg hit the submit button for this Dutch auction of 6 laptops and sat back to enjoy his coffee. All this had only taken him 15 minutes. After the first week, Greg had sold all 6 laptops, for $830 each. Now what Greg did, was wait until he received the payment from his 6 customers, in his Paypal account. Once he had the money, he sent the addresses of his customers, together with 6 x $550 (wholesale price) to his drop ship company, also via Paypal. This took another 10 minutes. Greg made a pure profit of 6 x $280 = $1,680 in about 25 min of work!!
You can see the different approaches of these two individuals. It's obvious that Greg is a smarter E-Bay seller than Pete.
So, you can see that drop shipping can be the answer to your problem of what to sell on E-Bay and it can save you a lot of time too. No riding around, no packing, no queueing, no postage, and no out of pocket expenses.
Secret 2: Have a professional auction listing
A professional E-Bay auction site is like your business card. If you are serious about selling on E-Bay, you should show your potential customers that you are a professional seller and that you are selling high quality products. Don’t just upload any old photo and type the text neatly in the description box. Do your homework and learn some HTML. Look around, there are many professional tutorials and e-books to help you in that regard. It’s definitely worth it and you’ll be surprised, because if your auction listing looks nice and professional, then potential buyers will stay longer on your site and usually it’s more likely that they place a bid.
Secret 3: The money is in the follow up
Yes, you might have heard this before, but, this is a very important aspect of your successful E-Bay career: Follow up with your customers. Send them an e-mail, approximately a week after they have purchased the product and ask them how they are doing with the product and if everything is all right. Invite them to have a look at your other auctions. You have to be careful though, not to offend anyone, or be accused of spamming, but if the products are related and you ask how they went with the product, that’s fine. You shouldn't get complaints by doing that and your customers will probably be happy to get some “insider tips”. You’ll be amazed how many customers will buy from you again, since they value you as a seller. Bear in mind, that it is easier to keep an existing customer, than finding a new one.
You could also send them a thank you gift, in form of a free, downloadable digital information product. That’s easy for you and they get some valuable information. You’ll see that your existing customers will be very thankful and if they feel good that they bought from you, they will do again in the future.
Secret 4: Sell internationally
This aspect is often neglected by many E-Bay sellers: Sell internationally! Don't limit your market! First, check with your drop ship company, which countries they will ship to and how much postage they charge to send the item overseas. Once you have these details, you can go ahead and list your item internationally. You’ll be surprised how many more items you will sell, when the potential buyers see: "shipped worldwide". Don’t miss this opportunity, or you will be leaving big bucks behind, on the table.
Secret 5: Be creative, be different
How do you think your listing will be stand out from the crowd? Good question isn’t it? Top marketers and power sellers have tried and tested a lot of methods. First, place your photos in the gallery. It does cost a bit more to list, but is money well spent. A recent study has shown that people tend to ignore listings without a picture in the gallery. So that’s mandatory!
The next step is your title. Do you know that only the title is spidered by E-Bay, when potential customers are searching for specific products? So, you have to make sure that your title includes as many relevant keywords as possible, but be careful here, because E-Bay does not like “keyword stuffing”. So, be creative and come up with two or three different titles for the same item. Try them all and you’ll soon find out which works best.
If you want to make money online, you simply have to tap in to the power of E-Bay, especially if you want to sell things like DVDs and CDs, as we suggested on our website pages.
This thought might frighten you, but Tom Barnes, who is one of the top power sellers and a dab hand at marketing on E-Bay, has put together a course, adapted to a downloadable e-book, explaining how to get the best results from E-Bay.
