How to Make Money From Blogging

There are two main types of business blogging models, that entrepreneurs use to make money from blogging.
Sell advertising space
The first and most common method to turn a blog into a profit making machine, is to sell advertising space to different companies and brands, who want to reach that blog's niche targeted readers.
The second kind of money making blog is one that deals with a single brand or product, by creating positive associations between the blog and that particular product, in the mind of consumers.
Both types of blog can make a lot of money, when done correctly, especially if the creator has a keen mind for marketing.
If you are blogging with the goal of selling advertising, then there are two basic methods of recruiting sponsors who want to put ads on your site. You can let someone else do all the work for you, or you can do the work yourself and keep all of the revenue.
Within the first group, many people make money from the blog by selling advertising space through Google's AdSense program. The advantages of this program are numerous, as it requires very little effort on the part of the blogger or webmaster, to begin raking in profits. However, most people discover that they make less money through this method, than they had hoped that their blog would earn.
The only reason for this is traffic, or lack thereof. If enough people visited the site and some of them clicked on the ads, you would earn money. The amount is again dependent on the volumes of traffic.
Selling advertising directly to companies, who want to put banner ads or sponsored links on your blog, can take quite a bit of time, but it is often very lucrative. If you have a lot of contacts in industries that are related to the topic of your blog, you may want to give this a try. They will normally already have a banner, so don't worry about having to design these. There is usually a text advert that accompanies the banner or logo.
People who have a strong background in sales and are experienced at pitching proposals, can make quite a bit of money by renting out space on their blogs to interested companies.
As stated above, the biggest problem with this model, is that you often have to build quite a sizable readership before you can attract advertisers, which can mean that you have to do several months of work before you start to make money blogging.
As blogging becomes a more and more lucrative business, a lot of established companies are considering how they can get into the action. They are starting to capitalize on the whole blogging movement, by teaming up with niche blogs that can provide a friendly face and attract visitors to their company.
Often, a company will employ an established blogger, to create a weblog designed specifically to appeal to that company's customers and to create positive associations with the brand in consumers' minds. More than one writer, who never even dreamed that he or she could make big money blogging, has been approached by a company and offered a contract.
Promote affiliate products
The second model promotes products, either your own, or as an affiliate. This is becoming more popular and even old school affiliates are looking to blogging as a perfect method of surreptitiously attracting attention to the affiliate link, through the usage of a relevant, informative blog post on a relevant topic.
An example of this, would be to write an article on search engine optimization and then tell the readers of your blog why a certain s.e.o tool would be a good buy. This combines three of the most powerful Internet marketing mediums - business blogs, article marketing and affiliate sales.
All you have to do, to get started, is get a blog going within your chosen niche. Write informative articles on topics within that niche and then either find a suitable product to promote. You could also do the reverse, by finding a couple of good products that you are proud to recommend and then creating articles around them.
Right, so now you are ready to make a start, but you're not sure what to do first. You must have heard of Wordpress, which is the ultimate blogging platform and free!
